Bangladeshi garment manufacturers have shut down 150 factories indefinitely as police have issued charges for 11,000 workers involved in violent protests demanding a higher minimum wage. The garment factories make up around 85% of Bangladesh's annual exports, supplying many global brands. The workers, who are mostly women, have been protesting for better pay and conditions. The government recently raised the sector's wage by 56.25%, but workers are demanding a higher minimum wage.
