India's coal import rises 4% in September
India's coal import rose by 4.3% in September compared to the same month of the previous fiscal year, reaching 20.61 million tonnes. Non-coking coal imports accounted for the majority at 13.89 million tonnes, while coking coal imports decreased to 4.59 million tonnes. However, overall coal imports in the April-September period of the current financial year declined to 124.53 million tonnes. Coking coal import was at 29.44 MT during April-September 2023-24.
