Spain Masters Super 300: Srikanth beats B Sai Praneeth, PV Sindhu powers through to quarterfinals
Srikanth came up with a 21-15, 21-12 win in 36 minutes while Sindhu reversed her setback from last week in Basel.
In the battle between two Indian players, former world No 1 Kidambi Srikanth came out on top. The 30-year-old came up with a straight-game 21-15, 21-12 win over B Sai Praneeth at the Spain Masters Super 300 event in Madrid on Thursday to go through to the men’s singles quarterfinals.
Joining Srikanth in the last eight, was PV Sindhu, who reached the quarterfinals on the World Tour for the first time in 2023. After a repeat of the first-round fixture in Basel against Jenjir Stadelmann, it was a repeat of the second-round fixture for Sindhu as she once again took on Putri Kusuma Wardani. But this time around, the Indian managed to reverse the result, winning in straight games to progress.
