The United Nations food agency has warned that food assistance to 1.4 million refugees in Chad, who have fled the conflict in parts of the Sahel, may end due to limited funding. Most of the refugees escaped the war in Sudan and crossed into Chad in the last six months, putting pressure on the already impoverished country. The World Food Program urgently needs $185 million to continue its support in Chad over the next six months, but without funding, they will be forced to suspend assistance.
